India Women delivered a commanding all-round performance to crush Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the third T20 International at the Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram, on Friday, December 26, 2025. With this emphatic victory, the hosts sealed the five-match series 3-0, wrapping it up with two matches still to be played.

The foundation of India’s win was laid by a lethal bowling display. Making a strong comeback, pacer Renuka Singh ripped through the Sri Lankan batting line-up with a brilliant spell of 4 for 21. She was well supported by senior all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who picked up three wickets for 18 runs, ensuring Sri Lanka never gained momentum.

Batting first after losing the toss, Sri Lanka struggled against India’s disciplined attack and could only manage 112 for 7 in their 20 overs. None of the Lankan batters were able to convert their starts, as regular wickets kept them under constant pressure.

In reply, India made light work of the modest target, thanks to a sensational knock from Shafali Verma. The aggressive opener remained unbeaten on 79, showcasing her trademark fearless stroke play as India chased down the target in just 13.2 overs, losing only two wickets in the process.

Beyond the match result, Deepti Sharma achieved a significant personal milestone. Her three-wicket haul took her to 151 wickets in T20 Internationals, making her the joint-highest wicket-taker in the format alongside Australia’s Megan Schutt. Deepti reached the landmark in 131 matches, with an impressive average of 18.73 and a strike rate of 18.43, underlining her consistency at the highest level.

Earlier in the day, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl first. The team management made two strategic changes, bringing back Renuka Singh and Deepti Sharma in place of Sneh Rana and Arundhati Reddy, both of whom were rested.
